New Look for The Lookout

Thanks to Hayden Johnson for sending along this series of pictures of The Lookout on Scotts Ridge.

Lots of changes!

To see the gorgeous view, one now must walk out onto an observation deck. It's a shame it came to that, but I suppose this was the only way to preserve the recent clean-up effort and prevent further destruction of the site.

A View with a History

In the beginning of the anglo colonization, Basil Prather, William Ray (founder of Raywick), John Stewart, and Thomas Scott, along with many others came to the western end of modern-day Marion County by way of the Rolling Fork of the Salt River. Thomas Scott was granted 15,000 Acres of mainly knob ridges and hollows.

Today it is known as Scott’s Ridge and

                                         what a view!
