DAY 30: WALKIN' AFTER  MIDNIGHT

DAY 30: WALKIN’ AFTER MIDNIGHT

All week, the weather experts have pontificated with prognostications of a big snow coming our way – and I was SO ready! Bring on that happy snow!

But the closer we got to their  ETA, the further it was pushed into the future and their predictions of accumulations kept inching down to the point I wondered if we’d end up with anything at all.

The week of foreplay by the forecasters FINALLY culminated with our “snowgasm” stealing quietly into Marion County under the cover of darkness.

After that week long build up, I sure didn’t want to miss the big show.

So well after midnight, my husband and I bundled up for a walk in the falling snow.

Sounds very romantic - and it was – for about a block.

That’s about how far we got when we agreed this would be a short walk; we were freezing. My hair had iced over and the wind was swirling the snow in every direction – even into our eyes, making it hard to even see. The whole town was quiet except for the falling crystals and the scrunch underfoot.

Before turning back, I whipped out my camera from under the protection of my coat and quickly took this one shot of downtown Lebanon, looking East on Main Street. It’s not the shot I wanted, but at least I have a souvenir of our walk after midnight in the falling snow.

Sometimes it’s nice to do something spontaneous, even if it doesn’t turn out as we wish.

Donna,
I think this is a great spur of the moment shot! It looks as if it is a photo of long ago! Because the lights look like candle lanterns!! And the glow of the buildings is beautiful also!!

Thanks Lisa. My goal was to get further down the street, but that didn't happen...but...oh well! I think we have a beautiful little down town area - really one of the prettiest little towns I've ever seen.
