Todd Harris Has Died

p1013026.jpg

I saw Todd and Diane just a few weeks ago as I was walking back to work after my lunch time.

They were getting out of their car and we stopped to talk for a minutes.

I've taken several pictures of Todd and Diane over the years, and never dreamed this would be my very last photo op of that couple together. Todd died this week. I still haven't heard exactly why.....

Body Language

It appears John Greenwell a/k/a "Snarepole" and Lisa Nally-Martin are having a very serious discussion here, as Lisa puts her psychology degree to work by "mirroring" Mr. Greenwell.

Damita Adams says her friends call her a jack-of-all-trades, and with good reason.

The 30-year-old runs a marketing/event planning company called Str82dapoint.

She's now focusing on public relations work for local authors and musicians.

She's founded and produced a radio show, "Rob Mac Talks" on WLOU 1350-AM, and is working on another one. She's also a photographer who specializes in family portraits.

She plans to put all her life lessons to use and start doing motivational speaking.

Here's what motivates Damita.

Reading

Anyone who does public relations work for authors has to love to read. Some of Damita's favorite books are "What if George Bush Were a Black Man?" by Dr. Boyce Watkins, "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkerson and "Black Box" by Frank X Walker.

Music

"I think music tells a lot about a person and their many different sides as well as their willingness to learn about others that are different," Damita says. And reviewing Damita's varied music tastes, she seems to be willing to venture out.

She's a fan of R&B singers Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Patti LaBelle and Al Green. But she also digs hip-hop groups like Dem Franchize Boyz. She likes pop music by artists like the Pussycat Dolls, Beyoncé and Gwen Stefani. And she even likes to get down to the country sounds of Dolly Parton and Shania Twain.

Damita was a big fan of "Ally McBeal" back in the day and admits she saw a lot of herself in Calista Flockhart's character. But these days, she says, "I'm a fiend for `Grey's Anatomy' (ABC). Meredith Grey and Ally McBeal both had a gift of facing `real' even if it was going to hurt them. I feel like I share that gift with them. Just give me what it is and I'll deal with it, even if it hurts."

Movies

If you find out about a new movie that's packed with racial tension, let Damita know. She'll probably want to check it out. Her favorite movies are "The Color Purple," "A Time to Kill," "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Crash."

But Damita also loves a good laugh and counts "The Waterboy" and "White Chicks" among her favorites.

Food

When Damita is in the mood for Ethiopian food, she heads to 3315 Bardstown Road.

"I like Queen of Sheba because it gives me a chance to visit another place in the world without having to buy a plane ticket."

Damita also frequents the Melting Pot, 2045 S. Hurstbourne Parkway, and Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar.

But sometimes she just can't resist Wendy's 99-cent menu. "I get the junior cheeseburger deluxe, a side salad and Diet Coke."

Nightlife

"I don't get out a lot, but as I've gotten older I've found that I like going to more theater and open mics with poetry reading."

But occasionally you will find her at Red Star Tavern at Fourth Street Live. "The atmosphere is great, especially to go watch a game."

Etc.

"I'm from a small country town, Lebanon, Ky., and I oftentimes just like driving country roads with my camera and just taking pictures of whatever it is I may find." She adds that she particularly loves photographing country churches.

Damita considers herself an artist and also frequents museums. But even an artist can have a weakness for Nine West.

"I am also a shoe fanatic and love shopping for boots."
