DAY 3: Epiphany

I'm a little confused...January 6th is supposed to be the REAL Epiphany, but our church is celebrating it today.

From my prayer book: "The infant Jesus cannot yet speak, yet when the day comes that he can, no force of nature will prevent him from coming to us tossed about in the storms of our life to reassure us with the words, "Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!" As we acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, the love that sends him over the water to us is brought to perfection in us.

Somehow, today, this picture comes to mind for me.

The figure under the umbrella is my daughter at St. Rose Cemetery as she awaited me to join her to help comfort her brother - my son - for the burial of his young father.

DAY 2: Persistence

This photo of my daughter -  taken immediately after completing a long race - inspires me to keep trying. She has always been one who would establish her goals and work very hard until she reached them.

I want to be more like that in 2010. I want to cross the "finish line" a winner!

DAY 1: Getting off on the Right Foot

This is a closeup of the surgically enhanced foot of Four Roses Master Distiller Jim Rutledge, as photographed by me in the wee morning hours of this New Year's Day. Jim will be in recovery from this surgery for several weeks, so don't expect to see him around at any Bourbon tastings in the near future.
