I've been excited all week because a horse born and bred at Summer Wind Farm made its way into the Kentucky Derby! That's a big deal! Yay, Mission Impazible!

I have a fondness for Summer Wind Farm because they took in my best/worst pet EVER...Walter Jacobs.

Walter was a tiny baby raccoon that my husband found just as he was about to cross the busy street from our yard onto West Main. Stephen snatched him up from certain death, then brought him in to me.

I took one look at that little fellow and I just started crying!

I said, "What are we going to do with him?!"

Stephen said, "We're going to raise him!

I was so SO SAD.

I was sad because I knew right then and there that I was in for it!

I knew that I could not raise this little animal without becoming very attached. I fell in love with Walter Jacobs, as I knew I would.

I knew it would be terribly hard to give up an animal I'd raised from birth, and that's exactly what was involved.

Some might not understand my feelings, but I don't think I will ever get over Walter Jacobs.

He truly was the best/worst pet ever.
